Hello and welcome to my marathon fundraising page for Crescent Cove!
Crescent Cove is a respite and hospice home for kids in the Twin Cities, one of the country's only organizations of its kind. Our oldest son is profoundly disabled and is blessed to receive 15 days of respite care at Crescent Cove annually. Our daughter has loved sleep-away sibling camp there the last two summers. Through the years, we have gotten to know the staff - nurses, CNA's, social workers, program staff, volunteers, even therapy dogs! - and the place has become a true home-away-from-home.
Last year I was on the Crescent Cove TC 10-Mile fundraising team. Though I ran cross country in college and did some races during my twenties, I hadn't run much since having kids. It was hard getting started and I wondered if I would make it to the finish line 😅 Then I got diagnosed with breast cancer.
Crescent Cove staff found out about my diagnosis and, unprompted, sprang into action. I got a call inviting Hans to stay with them the week of my surgery so that my husband could focus on caring for me and our other children while I recovered. I am so grateful for Crescent Cove staff's specialized expertise and unmatched compassion. By caring for our medically complex son during that stressful time, they cared for our whole family.
Thankfully all went well with my treatment and I am cancer free, so naturally it's time to run a marathon 😬😎 I'm honored to fundraise for Crescent Cove to thank them for their help last year when I wasn't lacing up my running shoes as planned.

Your support provides respite care for families raising a child with a shortened life expectancy, and sacred end-of-life care for children, all at no cost in a joyful and vibrant home-away-from home where moments are embraced and celebrate.
