We knew before Timmy was born that he would have Down syndrome and a heart defect. What we didn’t know was how complex his medical journey would become, including frequent hospitalizations, surgeries, and lifelong health needs.
Timmy is now 13 and has ongoing respiratory, immune, gastrointestinal, and recently diagnosed autoimmune issues. He is minimally verbal, fed entirely by a feeding tube, and needs help with most daily activities. While he brings us much joy, caring for him can sometimes be exhausting and overwhelming.
Crescent Cove has been a lifeline. Timmy enjoys short respite stays filled with music, play, and caring staff, while we get a much-needed break knowing he is safe and well cared for.
Crescent Cove is the only facility of its kind in the Midwest, providing respite and hospice care for children with complex medical needs at no cost to families, relying on Medicaid and donations.
I’m running the Twin Cities Ten Mile in October to raise funds in gratitude for the support they’ve given our family. Any donation, big or small, truly helps.
